Entry: Girl Is Still Crafty Sunday, June 05, 2005

I made Maggie a dress last week. Once again, no pattern. I eyeballed it, as usual. I did check out some patterns at the craft store, but at the prices they were asking I just didn't see how that was supposed to make sewing economical. Anyway, here it is, a dress of my own design, modeled by the lovely Margaret.

My mouth is hanging open in AWE.
You made that gorgeous dress--and without a pattern!!!

I am jealous!

I CAN bake bread though. Try the challah recipe on my site. It is SUPPOSED to be soft in the middle and is really easy to make--promise!

WOW. I see I echo every other comment on the page.... WOW. That's amazing. Looks like the baby likes it too! She's smiling! I always had a hard time getting my babies to smile for the camera. : Except my daughter, she is and always has been a ham!

Good job!

My mother made the beautiful quilt for us for Christmas :-) It matches my living room and I leave it on the floor so I always have a soft spot to lay Maggie. You should see the matching one she made to hang on the wall- even prettier !

Mother taught me how to sew on an old, old, Singer with the foot peddle. I saw a new Singer at Wal-Mart and had the urge to buy it -- with all the fancy stitches but soon realized that even if I bought all the beautiful fabric in the store I would still need a pattern before I could make anything. And here you did it without a pattern. I am impressed. But then I am just an old man.

Brilliant! You're very talented. My mom could do the same thing--just decide to make something and MAKE it. I, sadly, can not. I'm almost capable of sewing a ripped seam now!
Did you make the beautiful quilt too?

Wow, that is beautiful! I am so jealous, I wish I could sew like that. I'm doing good to hem something or repair a torn seam. I have a little girl that would look so cute in something like this, but unfortunately, I can't do it! (Wish you were a relative so you could give her stuff like this for birthday & x-mas!)

Beautiful dress and beautiful baby! I'm impressed that you did it without a pattern. I love to sew, but somehow nearly always at least start with a pattern, even if it's something old from my stash of patterns, adjusted as I wish.

Holy Cow, that is beautiful! I wish I could do that...can't sew a stitch! :) I also love the background Maggie is laying on.

What a beautiful dress! I can't believe you just eyeballed it - I'm so envious of your sewing abilities!

Wow--excellent job. If you hadn't said anything, I would never had guessed you didn't use a pattern. And that's such a pretty fabric.
